Steps In The Invention Factory Process 1. Conceptualization: The invention is conceived by one or more inventors, likely to be born or naturalized American citizens. 2. First Patent Application Filed: The next step is to file the patent application according to Paris convention procedures. 3. Researchers Make Improvements: -The ideal Researcher is one familiar with electronics in general. Studies confirm that specialists are statistically more limited in conceiving creative applications for existing technology. As creative applications for existing technology is our specialty, we seek fresh perspectives from engineers, who can incorporate what they have learned from our other inventions. There are common loose threads running below the surface, through many of our inventions. -Patent Searching: The researcher seeks other existing products which might be similar to our invention. They familiarize themselves with the field of the invention in the process. They access multiple patent databases and do other general web searches from your home PC. -Creative Input After Initial Patent Filing: The second field of exploration is dreaming up creative ideas related to the invention project. The goal is to expand the scope of the invention. Discover how to further improve an already exciting invention. Also better protect the invention against infringers of the main invention. As a preemptive measure, the researcher tries to imagine how others may attempt to copy our invention. The work is made easier as most inventions are creative applications for existing technology. -Multiple Researchers: Multiple researchers can work on the same or similar invention simultaneously. Normally they don’t communicate with each other, allowing each to have a different fresh perspective on the inventions. 4. Expanded Patent Application Filed: -The broadened patent application is filed to help gain patent rights on any new material introduced by the researchers. -Often all information provided by the Researcher, regardless of its value is filed. The more information filed, the greater the chance that the patent rights are broadened against a future unforeseen competitor. 5. Patent Rights Marketed To Developer: -The patent rights are offered to parties that can conduct further research and development. Their goal is to get the invention to the market. -The Developer can be a start-up, or existing company. They are likely to be located in the United States. -Each Developer can develop and promote one or more different inventions. -The Developer determines which aspects of the invention package will be utilized. Those aspects of the invention submitted by the Researchers, and for which patent protection is sought must include the names of Researchers and other inventors who first submitted the desired patent rights. -Details are outlined in the contract form for the start-up co. It differs from contracts signed by other parties. 6. Invention Manufactured & Sold: -It is hoped the invention will become profitable and result in sales to a portion of the world’s 6 billion population. -The Developer needs to either produce the invention, or license it to the manufacturer. 7. Financial Benefit To Partners: -Partners can receive shares in those inventions they helped develop. -Royalties of maybe 5% of all sales are paid by the manufacturer in lump sums. This amount is paid as dividends to all stock holders. The dividend equates with the percent of the patent rights in the invention held by each stock holder. -Stock ownership is transferable by sale or inheritance. Many countries including the U.S., have reduced or zero tax for those assets kept in stock form. Background Information Creativity: Partners who have access to the inventions may contribute all manner of ideas. We all need to be highly open minded to each and every idea whether or not it turns out to be economically feasible, as nurturing each other to add to the pool of ideas is proven to enhance imagination. Submitted ideas are at a later practical stage screened for economic feasibility. However a lack of imagination would result in having less ideas from which to select. Let your imagination take full force. Who Are Partners: Partners can include all parties, like the Researcher, who help develop and promote the invention. The Partner’s role hopefully revolves around their interests and skills. The wider the scope of work a Partner addresses with their invention, hopefully the better. Researcher’s Location: Most work conducted up to the stage when the invention is taken on by the Developer, can be done almost anywhere in the world from the privacy of the Partner’s home. The Researcher only needs skills and a home PC. Flexibility is one of the beautiful features of our business. Hours: The Research Partner selects the hours and number of invention projects researched. Instead of being tied down like an employee, they are earning a share of the future profits from each and every invention they helped research. Invention Factory: We describe ourselves as an invention factory. Only one of the inventions co-developed by the Partner needs to truly succeed to reap large financial rewards. The goal is to put out as many good inventions as possible, and have the best people available take them to market. Fairfield: The site was selected in Fairfield for many reasons including its proximity to the inner San Francisco Bay Area. Fairfield’s quality of life supersedes downtown San Francisco which is great just for visits. Fairfield is clearly more serene, less congested, and considerably more affordable. Restaurants on the water front, sailing, hiking, vineyards, cinema, theatre, shopping, and the county capital are all within five minutes drive. We are by highway 80, and 35-40 minutes drive from downtown. Fairfield is one of our locations, the others being confidential. Confidentiality: -As is typical of high tech companies, stringent confidentiality provisions are essential. Partners should only provide information to those who need it to develop or promote the invention. -Specific information and or possible guidelines may be provided to those actually conducting the work within particular specialties. Though it won’t always be apparent, there is hopefully a strong reason for why we do what we do. -A confidentiality form should be signed before prospective Partners view our inventions.
